This week’s post is a little different from all my other posts. I have been nominated to take part in the Liebster award. Thank you so much to BlogMyLife for the nomination, I really appreciate. I was also nominated by AnnieChanie and Jess a while ago, so thank you also for the nomination, (I’m sorry I didn’t get around to answering your questions, I’m so grateful for your nomination). This tag is a great way to get to know new bloggers and support each other so I’m excited to finally get involved.
The rules for this award are:
- Answer the questions asked by your nominator
Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers
Ask your nominees 11 questions
Let them know you nominated them
Here the questions I was asked and my answers:
1. What made you want to start blogging?
I started blogging because I wanted to create a space where I was free to write what I feel. I had recently left university and I wasn’t in a good place, which can be very lonely and isolating. So I wanted a place where you don’t have to feel so alone in what you are dealing with. I started it mainly for myself because I wasn’t sure if people would actually read what I have to say, but if it helps other people along the way then I feel like it is worthwhile.
2. If you went back in time, what one thing would you change?
If I went back in time, I would try to live more in the present. When I was younger I was always looking for and thinking about what was coming next, whether that be exams or what I wanted to do when I left school, instead of focusing what was going on in my life at that moment. I would try to enjoy the simple things, appreciate and deal with what was happening in the present moment.
3. What is your favourite song of all time?
This is difficult question. I listen to quite a lot of music and my favourite artist and song changes all the time. It completely depends on what I feel like at that moment. Although anything by Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At the Disco or Fall Out Boy never fails to disappoint. All their songs are so amazing, old and new. I don’t think I could pick a favourite.
4. What TV programme did you always watch growing up?
Growing up my sisters and I would always watch The Simpsons without fail. Even now, on the odd occasion, I’ll watch it. I don’t know what it is about the show but we just loved it.
5. What quote inspires you the most?
‘Don’t be someone else’s version of perfect’- I think the word ‘perfect is subjective, everyone’s version of perfect is different. We shouldn’t have to change ourselves to fit in or live the life that others think we should. Everyone is different and we should respect that. If we always strive for perfection then, personally, I think we will always fail and never be truly happy because nothing is perfect.
6. Are you a cat or a dog person?
Well I’m impartial, I have a cat and a dog, and I don’t think I could choose between them. I’ve always grown up with cats but Alfie is our first dog. My cat (Ziggy) is a few years older than my dog but they to get on quite well and sometimes Ziggy will even join us when we take Alfie for a walk.
7. What is your most used phrase/word?
Apparently when I talk I say ‘like’ quite a lot. I don’t know that I’m doing it but my older sister always gets annoyed by it (maybe it’s just my subconscious way of winding her up).
8. If you could meet one celebrity who would it be?
I would love to meet Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun from Twenty One Pilots. Their songs and them as people are so inspirational. Their music has helped me at times when I was really struggling. They have helped me and many others find their purpose and seem like the lovely, genuine people.
9. What one thing do you always have with you?
I always have my phone and headphones on me. I try not to use my phone all the time but it has all my music on it which I listen to when I’m walking the dog or walking by myself. There’s nothing better than losing yourself in a good song when out. For me it’s a great distraction.
10. What subject was your favourite when in school?
My favourite subject in school was either maths or PE, I know that’s quite a weird combination. When I was at school I was involved in quite a few of the sport teams but this is something I only started to enjoy from about the age of 13/14. But I’ve always enjoyed maths, even though when I was younger I used to really struggle with it.
11. What advice would you give someone who is unsure about starting a blog?
Just go for it. I was quite unsure about starting a blog but I am really enjoying it. Also only put out content when you have something you want to say. When I first started I put quite a bit of pressure to write a post every week but I’m starting to realise that I prefer writing when I don’t have that pressure on my shoulders. I’m going to try and post every week but if I need to have a week off every now and again then I’m going to give myself that time.
1. What do you love most about blogging?
2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where you go?
3. What is your favourite band/ singer?
4. Do you have/had any pets? (If not are there any pets you would like to have?)
